Small Webcaster Settlement Act passes in both Senate and House, supported by virtually all players. Interesting notes from the article: This is NOT a victory of webcasters over record labels (or, for that matter, vice versa). It is a victory for common sense, as all parties involved will benefit from a healthy webcasting space. The record industry has apparently come to realize that webcasting should not be lumped in with CD burning and file sharing as one of their enemies, but rather that the new medium has the potential to offer real benefits for them if everyone quits acting as if they're adversaries. | |

| The Live 365 Network is currently down due to problems its bandwidth provider is having. This affects all the Perkigoth streams, and thus, they are all down at the moment. Live 365 has not been providing much information on this situation, but there are reports that they should be up by the end of the week. Perkigoth will start looking for a new provider if Live365 is not up within that period of time, but only if it can find one for a similar price, as we do this for enjoyment (i.e. we do not make money), and do not want to start paying a lot of money to provide this service. (If we were to provide streaming from our own servers, we would not only have to pay royalties to BMI, ASCAP, & SEACAP, but have to pay increased bandwidth costs to our colo provider). We will post more information as we have it. | |

| Perkigoth.com was getting quite unreliable on its host at softcom.ca so I have moved it to a new server. It should be more reliable now, and a bit faster as well. In the process, the site also went from NT/IIS/ASP to Linux/Apache/PHP. This is a major change, and there may be a few bugs floating around.
