Jupiter Crash - The Skin Before the ArtJupiter Crash - The Skin Before the Art
2006 SINister Records

Jupiter Crash's "The Skin Before the Art" is THE AWESOME.  I listened to this CD over and over and over again and I never got tired of it.  Dark rock at it's finest.  Every song is full of seductive qualities.  This is a CD to *blank* to.

Selected tracks:

  • Dark Surprise - Pulls you in.  Pounding rhythms
  • Chaos Mind - Sexy vocals and guitars.
  • Waiting for a Sign - Brings it down.  Slow and hypnotic
  • Descent - Post punk 1st wave goth sounds ala The Cult
  • Sinners and Losers - A touch of southern rock
  • Too Much - A perfect closing song

Dan Pokorni - GuitarscapesDan Pokorni - Guitarscapes
2006 Dan Pokomi

The name of the album says exactly what you hear, guitarscapes.  No vocals, only guitars.  Layers and layers, from Celtic like songs to country twang.

  • Shakir - Celtic quality
  • Drivin' Without Lights - feels like driving in coverable with the top down.
  • Night Spring - Darker element.  A guitar sings, you can almost hear the words.
  • Stay on the INside - Images of cowboys sitting on a fence jamming
  • What She's Thinking - Lullaby quality in which the guitar sings the lyrics.

Zack Weber - Daydreams and Day JobsZack Weber - Daydreams and Day Jobs
2006 Natas Records Incorporated

Zack Weber is reminiscent REM, Bens Fold, and John Mayer with a touch of Coldplay.  Acoustic guitar rock with a touch of swing, a touch of jazz, a touch of hard rock.  The album starts quietly goes into something heavier, and ends on an upbeat note.  At 18, this kid has a lot of talent and I hope to see more of him in the future.

  • Sleep - opens gently and ends in nice crescendo
  • Words - The guitar here almost sounds like a ukulele. Softly swings.
  • Lonely Butterfly - Lots of use of scales. sing-song quality.
  • Ms Know-It-All -  another track that swings softly.
  • In Your Head - If you like Coldplay, you will love this song.
  • Famous - Starts softly and ends a little heavier in sound.
  • Shoot For the Moon - Starts with a guitar solo then balloons into vocals that's a hybrid between Jimmy Page and Roger Water and end with something a little heavier
  • Playground Rocks - A poppy jazzy tune with scat and clarinet.
